Usage
This message should be placed only on article talk pages at the head of the talk page with other notices for articles which deprecate use of shortened footnotes to refer to a list of full citations in a section separate from the unsorted list for the article. If there is some question about the style intended for the article, instead use the inquiry template {{Note short footnote style 3}} to confirm that style 3 is what contributors have chosen.
To use this template, add this code to an article’s talk page:
{{Note short footnote style 3 in use|sources}}
Where sources is the name of the section or sections where full citations are listed. The default is References.
- Example
{{Note short footnote style 3 in use|sources=References}}
This produces:
This article uses footnotes in the regular style used for most Wikipedia articles. All full citations used for footnotes must appear in the section named References. Shortened footnotes may only be used to reference full citations in this same section in order to avoid duplication of information in cases where footnotes refer to the same source but different pages or with different annotation information.

The article is added to the hidden maintenance category Category:Articles with notice for sfn style 3 for tracking purposes.
