Log in to Teams
How to Log in to Teams
We recommend that you use either an InPrivate browser window, Incognito browser window, or a separate browser profile used only for logging in as your RMR Teams guest account, so as to avoid confusion about who you are logged in as. Microsoft Teams tends to get confused about who you are trying to log in as when you have multiple accounts. Keeping your browser profiles separate is the best way to avoid this confusion.
Then, go to the RMR Teams web site in your web browser. You will receive a prompt to open the Teams App, Open the Web App, or download the Teams App. We recommend using the Web App. Then, log in with your account email address. Typically, this is your primary CAP email address. It can be a Gmail address, a RMR Wing email address (you@utwg.cap.gov), a CAP.gov address (ex. jsmith@cap.gov), or your work email address (ex. you@youremployer.com).
When you type in your email address, one of two things will happen depending on whether there is a Microsoft account associated with the email address:
1) If there is a Microsoft account associated with your address, you will be prompted to enter a password
2) If there is not a Microsoft account associated with your address, the system =will say that your account wasn't found, but it will provide you with a link to receive a one-time password sent to that email address.
Use whichever option works for you.
When you log in, you may see an error message indicating you don't have access to that team. But if you acknowledge the error message, it will disappear, and then you can click on the "Teams" item in the left navigation rail to see the teams of which you are a member
Teams and Multiple Organizations
Note that if you are a member of one or more Teams organizations, you may not see what you expect when you log in. You may need to click in the upper right-hand corner and switch your organization to Rocky Mountain Region Civil Air Patrol.
After logging in to Teams, click the left rail to see the RMR Teams of which you are a member.
Managing Multiple Identities
If you have multiple Microsoft accounts, you may find that you're logged in as one identity when you mean to be logged in as another identity. For example, you might have a personal MSN, Gmail, or Hotmail Microsoft account, and a separate account for your CAP Wing email address (asdf@utwg.cap.gov). This can be very confusing.
To avoid confusion, we recommended that you use different browser profiles for logging in to your CAP identity vs. your other identities. We also recommend using only a single identity for all CAP business.
